Still Small Theatre Auditions

Pilgrim Church, 300 Cabot St., Beverly
November 17, 18, December 29

Still Small Theatre is holding auditions soon for our repertory shows! We are a touring Christian theatre troupe based in Beverly MA, and two of our plays are available year-round. In order to keep the schedule flexible for our actors, we cast several actors in each role, so that so we can mix and match based on who is available for a given show. All are welcome, regardless of experience level (minimum age is 16). We are especially seeking actors of African, Asian, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, and mixed-race descent.

The Diary of Perpetua is a 90-minute musical based on the story of an early Christian martyr; her prison diary is one of the first female-authored documents known to history. How I Met Our Father is a comedy based on people’s true stories of coming to faith in Jesus. Both shows are performed with 6 actors who all play multiple characters.

Each show will have a week-long intensive rehearsal process (weeknights + a day-long Saturday rehearsal) in January so new cast members can get up to speed before joining the full cast at our monthly brush-up rehearsals. You may audition for one or both shows at these auditions; auditions for The Diary of Perpetua will include a singing audition. Sides for both shows will be sent out ahead of time to auditioners, and auditions will also include some theatre exercises.

Today, In Our Town- A Christmas Play

Still Small Theatre is currently (fall 2018) booking touring performances of the Christmas play, Today, In This Town!
Looking for a way to share Christmas with your community this year? We’ll come to you!
At about 30 minutes, hosting this play is a great way to have a fun, family-friendly event that doesn’t overtax people’s often-too-busy holiday schedules. The script is adapted from a medieval Christmas pageant and, like the original, imagines Jesus’ coming in our own modern context. Full of deep characters and hilarious moments, it pulls us out of our usual way of hearing the Christmas story so that we can hear it again.
Cost is low ($150) and audience donations will benefit local refugee ministry in MA. There is also an option to pay a higher flat fee and use any audience donations to support a ministry in which your church is involved.
Interested in hosting a performance? E-mail us at stillsmalltheatre@gmail.com or check out stillsmalltheatre.com for more information!
